A 180 degree turn around from DC

And after a one hour flight – only 30 minutes in the air, we land in West Virginia.

Here is their metropolitan airport.

This is the arrival and departure area – along with rental cars and baggage claim.

Good thing we got priority luggage – our two pieces were half of the entire baggage hold.

And finally our rental car(s) – I had rented 2 which took 2/3 of their inventory. Fortunately the truck on the left was not part of their fleet.

And we are off on our 10 mile drive to Lewisburg.

Such a cute, charming town and tonight is Friday night Art night; stores stay open after 5 and serve appetizers and wine.

Here is our home for the next 2 nights.

And here is our room

And we take a walk through downtown Lewisburg- it won’t take long.

We went in this cute little store – but the rooms upstairs were definitely sinking.

Then we noticed the bricks starting to collapse on the outside – you can see between the upper and lower shuttered windows.

We also went to Carnegie Hall.

While Jordan and Audrey attend the rehearsal and dinner, Jim and I head back to see what Art Night is. Turns out it isn’t much but we do pass by a piano available for play.

And the City Hall.

That’s enough excitement for one day and we head back to the hotel to grab a light dinner.

Oh my, they had us at the initial homemade biscuits! Yummy! They went too fast for a picture. I had a bowl of homemade tomato bisque and Jim had grilled root vegetables and a pasta dish.

We had tried to go earlier to Jim’s Drive-in. A real drive-in that has trays for the windows and serves BLT- but the T is fried green tomatoes – we got so excited and all 4 of us piled into the car, only to get there and see a closed sign. It was 1 p.m. and the hours posted said open 11-5. I guess they are open those hours unless they aren’t.

Tomorrow is the wedding and all the celebrations- but we are going to try one more time for our fried green tomato sandwich!
