We have a few hours in the morning before our flight to Sicily. The front desk “trainee” suggests we walk thru old Naples.
But we do find the baroque church - and it was not the “neon” church that the experienced front desk person sent us to the night before
And across the street was the gothic church - but we were stuck behind a tour group so we didn’t go in.
And now on to the airport. Even at noontime, traffic is crazy!
Two lanes become 5 and it is not for the inexperienced. And this doesn’t even capture it.
And our 1 hour flight becomes more like 5. The required 2 hours before the flight. 3
busloads of people transported one by one across the airport to the plane…then a 90 minute delay because they haven’t filled out the cover sheet to their flight plan correctly. Is this their first flight?
But we get to Palermo - in the rain - and this traffic makes Naples look like a practice drive.
And another hour later we arrive at our hotel. This is the best I could find in Palermo. I think I have been transported back to my great aunt’s Oakland apartment in the early 60’s.
Out for a quick walk
A bite to eat and we call it a night. We’ll see how we sleep on a sheet of plywood.
The graffiti reminds me of Milan in 2002. Loved the carrot sign.
