Good Morning Vietnam

We flew all night – 15 hours+. Our first flight landed at 6:30 am in Hong Kong, had a 90 minute layover followed by a 2 hour flight to Hanoi. Our flights on Cathay Pacific were outstanding – really comfortable and incredible service. We were greeted immediately in Hanoi and walked thru immigration, they even collected our luggage. We are very spoiled today.

We received white glove service- right to the front of our hotel.

Today is the evening before their New Year – Tet- celebration – so tonight is equivalent to New Years Eve. It is tradition for everyone to head home to be with their family. Here in Hanoi they take peach blossoms home – or anything they can carry home on their scooter.

Looks like they take entire orange trees home too.

Headed home with the peach blossoms.

Here we are being greeted at the hotel. Our tour guide Duc is wearing his New Years celebratory bright yellow pants.

Tomorrow starts the year of the pig! Piggies everywhere.

A walk around the lake then back to the hotel for our welcome glass of champagne followed by our 90 minute massages.

And finally our dinner at the Vietnamese restaurant at the hotel….for a special New Years Eve dinner complete with entertainment.

Not sure we will make it for the midnight fireworks.

See you tomorrow.
