Another beautiful island! Today we took a historical tour of sacred sights, the museum, and the blue eyed eels – which were fresh water eels that are carnivores. So far, other than Mooreau, this has been our favorite island. Our tour guide was an educated anthropologist who had settled in Huahine years ago. The Polynesian islands are supported by France. Their education and medical care is all subsidized by France. If you are born of a Polynesian mother, land is inherited from her, you live off the land eating fish, mangos, bread fruit and whatever grows on your land. All of their immediate needs are met, monetary wealth is not something they accumulate.
Tonight there was another music trivia contest. They tried to split our team up, but we persevered. We didn’t win this contest outright – it was a tie for first. We are claiming it as our fourth and final victory.
