As I said,I really need to practice this blog stuff BEFORE a trip. Not sure how we got to our 3rd day of vacation – but only 2nd day here. Our hotel in Rome was color coded – our floor was blue.
I asked Jay the first day what color his floor was…..
He hadn’t noticed the night we arrived – that’s how exhausted we were- by morning he knew he was on the orange floor.
We have 90 minutes in Rome, before we have to check out of the hotel. First stop Spanish steps on our way to the Borghese gardens.
We had missed our reservation the night before at the Borghese Gallery – and there were no cancellations or refunds. So we decided to walk up to the gallery in the morning and just check if anything could be done. They announced to all the disappointed people in line that there were no last minute tickets. As everyone dispersed Carrie moved to the front and with tears in her eyes she showed them her reservation and described our flight issues. The clerk handed her 2 tickets…then she politely asked for 2 more tickets and in our remaining 20 minutes before we had to leave Rome, we buzzed thru the Borghese. What a treat!
And now we are off to Ischia. No planes involved, but taxis, trains and hydrofoils.
We arrive in Ischia and head up the hill to the hotel. But on our way up, we are slowed down by a horse and carriage. I hand my phone to Jim to get a picture, but the car slowed down.
We have dinner at the hotel – outside on the patio. So pretty and perfect weather. After dinner Carrie and I head downtown for gelato. Can you imagine 3 days in Italy and no gelato!
And so at midnight we end our day.
