Our last day of tai chi followed by a quick breakfast and we are off again.
We are headed to Wat Henchy to visit a 7th century Angkorian temple, but this one has an incredible vista – and that means more than 300 steps up. But to get to the bus we first had to pass thru the field of oxen.
I may have been last…but it does make for a good picture
We decide this must be Jim’s spirit animal, but we aren’t sure what it is.
Back to the ship…and out again this afternoon to Wat Nokor built within the ruins of a 12th century Anglokorian temple site.
Now we come across a pig in the temple compound. It must be a good sign because it is the year of the pig…but this one has a deformed hoof so the villagers says it will bring bad luck. The poor pig looked parched in the 95 degree heat, so I found a paper plate (after making sure it wasn’t for some offering for the Buddha), and I gathered up our water for him. I want to believe it helped him at least a little.
Now on to school where they are teaching children as well as saving the environment by recycling plastic.
And finally a last night on the boat party – lots of crazy dancing and singing.
Tomorrow we were supposed to land in Siem Reap, but because the Chinese have built a dam on the Mekong in Laos and blocked the water flow, there is not enough water to travel there. So now we have to dock where we are in Kampong Chung and tomorrow everyone will be bussed 4 hours to Siem Reap…that is everyone but us! Because our travel agent extraordinaire – Marion – is part of Virtuoso and has used a partner here – they will be picking the 4 of us up at the time we requested and taking us directly to our hotel in Siem Reap! No bus ride for us! Yippee!
More news tomorrow- everyone else went to bed hours ago to pack and get ready for early tomorrow- I gotta catch up!
