We leave Lucerne and head thru the mountains for Montreux on the shores of Lake Geneva. We leave the charming village and head on the panoramic train through the Alps. This is really about the journey which is stunning and is exactly as I remember our first trip through the Alps in 2000 when we traveled from Zurich to Lake Lugano. Scenic beauty! I was so stunned on this trip from Italy to Zurich that it was void of a lot of the scenery I remembered. It turns out they have built so many tunnels to streamline the trip that you miss the beauty of the countryside. Well we saw it on this trip.
Even the non panoramic train from Lucerne to Interlaken was pretty.
But then we change to the panoramic train. The stunning Alps.
Unfortunately I was on the wrong side of the train to capture the height and beauty of the Alps.
We arrive and find that Montreux is really more of bustling FRENCH city. Gotta brush of my very rusty French.
Our hotel is beautiful. The Fairmont Montreux.
We will see what sights we can cover tomorrow.
