Montreux then Zurich

Before we leave Montreux- town of many statues….but don’t be fooled, all are not statues, some are nature.

A final view from our room, across Lake Geneva to the Alps.

So spectacular

The hotel at night. Our room is right underneath the L of Palace on the right. Spectacular room and view.

And we are on the train

Left: Lake Geneva; middle: Vineyards; right: Close up of how the grapes are protected between screens

We arrive back in Zurich. It is 80 degrees, and Europe is not equipped for heat. Even the air conditioning can’t cool enough.

We are strolling the Bahnhofstrasse - Zurich’s equivalent to Rodeo Drive. But it’s Sunday and everything is closed! Just my luck.

Might as well take in one more sight. The Fraumunster church which has a five part stained glass window series created by Marc Chagall in the late 1960’s. Chagall discovered stained glass painting at the age of 70, and was able to see the building inauguration of these windows in 1970 at the age of 83. The church itself was originally built in 853.

I had selected a restaurant for dinner - and when I asked the concierge to make a reservation, he hesitated. He said he knew of a much better restaurant, better food, not as expensive, etc. etc. I should have stuck to my choice. And for the last night of our trip, we had some very bland disappointing expensive food.

Vegetarian bread and Veal scallopini “Soup”

Time to end the day and get ready to end our vacation!
