More villages

But now I need to go back to last night. Pop quiz – who did not order pumpkin soup.

Morning now and I join Ian and Yvonne for tai chi….just a bit modified for me.

Beautiful sunrise.

Now off to see the silk village.

this is jack fruit.

Women weaving the silk. It takes 30 days to set the loom up with a particular pattern. It takes a woman 3 days to weave a silk scarf.

Getting the silk from the cocoons- and they don’t waste anything – they will retrieve the dead worms inside and later cook the in a wok dinner.

There are also caged animals at the compound. This is a porcupine.

And then we have the Ian spirit animal, the peacock fully strutting his stuff. He was fluttering his fan to get the females attention and when they were not the least interested he even turned his attention to the females in cages next to him as though that would work. Totally futile.

We return by tuk tuk

We return to the boat and head for the pool…and this is what I find.

Once you teach him how to tie a head scarf, you can’t stop him.

Now a lunch, then a blessing by the monks and another “untouched village”.

This is named Angkor Ban -but there are 8 villages named the same, so this is Angkor Ban 7.

We went into a typical home – this one was 90 years old.

Notice the wiring to the fan and light.

And the kitchen is downstairs

The neighbors are helping harvest the crops of peanuts.

This home next to the 90 year old house is 35 years old.

Now on to the market….not my kind of shopping. Our tour guide joked that these women were selling flies – they could have.

The village is preparing for a wedding the next day – they are expecting hundreds so all the neighbors pitch in.

Ian decides he can help too.

And now we are back to the boat, and again looking forward to a shower. There is a cocktail party on the hill, but Jim and I forego climbing back up in the dirt. From the boat we can hear Michael Jackson singing Billie Jean and yes….just like Romania Yvonne and Ian are in the thick of it dancing up a storm.

My pictures are from far away- but my correspondent Yvonne picked up on the shore.

These are two of our favorite boat employees – Mom and We. We had a joke for us every night…when I run out of material I’ll share one.
