Morning in Florence – Evening in Lake Garda

We have lots to fit in.

We start the morning with fresh croissants out of the oven and a great cappuccino. And then we are off. We have 8:45 tickets for the Uffizi and the Pitti Palace and gardens. We must be back to check out of the hotel by 11.

First stop – Uffizi.

You get the idea

Now on to the Pitti Palace. Again, not much time for the gardens.

And a final run through the royal rooms. They really resemble the rooms at the Borghese in Rome.

Too strange not to include

Before we leave this charming hotel hidden behind a fortress wall, here is proof of their security. 3 keys to get in. Outside gate, front door and room.

There were 5 bolts here that all had to unlock. This is the picture from the inside.

And we are off to the train station for a 3 hour trip to Milan.

The luggage fits!

The train is packed with AFS foreign exchange students. We watch them greeted by their host families on the platforms of each of the stops.

Once in Milan we pick up a rental car and head to Lake Garda.

View from our bedroom window

The strangest thing…the painting over our bed

Such a pleasant, happy girl holding her pet skunk!

Time to eat again! This time out on the beautiful expansive deck overlooking the lake.

Back to our typical eating

My 3 scallops

Jay's lamb Carrie's zucchini Jim's risotto

And we call it an evening to plan our day in Lake Garda tomorrow.
