Off to Sorrento for a few hours

We are still full from last night’s dinner but we manage to eat some breakfast. The breakfast venue is the same restaurant as last nights dinner, great food just not the same production. The crumbs on the chair attest to yumminess.

I wanted a little shopping time in Sorrento. So in the afternoon, we cross the street and catch a ferry for the 45 minute ride to Sorrento.

waiting for the ferry among the ruin excavations - that’s me not the ruins.

Once in Sorrento, we walk up and down the crowded alleys just browsing. A couple of years ago we bought some soft leather tote bags for 19 euros here in Sorrento, last year we found the same ones in Florence for 29 euros, but now they are 39 euros and not a deal anymore. I found one in a color I liked for 119 euros…so we kept walking.

But here we are 3 days in Italy and have not succumbed to gelato. We finally saw a shop that grabbed our attention.

Lots more walking and still nothing to buy.

So we head to the Grand Excelsior Vittoria and convince the guard to let us in for a drink on their beautiful patio.

After a leisurely drink, we leave this gorgeous property and try again to shop. No luck so we catch the very bumpy ferry ride back to Naples.

We had heard about these 2 churches in Naples across the street from each other that were very different styles. The woman who told us about them said one was very baroque and the other very gothic. So after a quick stop at the hotel to change we head out on this short walk to discover these two churches. What we found was one that was blocked off and under renovation, but we did find the other across the street.

I’m not sure if this is the gothic or baroque…but which one would have a neon sign on the face of the building?

And we head back to the hotel rooftop bar to eat again…I’m going to gain 10 lbs in just the first 3 days! These are very thick sliders…taller than they are wide, but very yummy.

I left out a couple of Jim’s favorite pictures yesterday (that happens when I control the content) - but he pointed it out - so here you go….

A guy with rocks for brains….and a guy with a pigeon on his head.

Tomorrow we are off for Palermo Sicily. We’ll see what we can manage to see in our 18 hours there.

I love "rocks for brains" - 😂

And the view from the patio is reminiscent of La Minervetta. Limoncella not withstanding.

Too bad you will miss the 9 days of prayer at the neon light church!
