Today is Amanda’s wedding. She comes by the hotel at 10 am to pick up Jordan. Jordan had recently shared this from the wedding program.
What…I travel all this way and no pictures! But I agree to abide by the rules during the ceremony..
As Jordan was tied up, Jim, Audrey and I decided to take a short drive for a hike. We get in the car and it says low tire pressure. Jim tries to goad Audrey into feigning a damsel in distress to get help filling the tires. Ultimately it was only self serve air and you had to pay!
I took this picture just to prove he did it!
And we continue on to our hiking spot.
Now back to the hotel- get ready for the wedding and we are off. The wedding locale is a 45-60 minute drive.
‘
Those who needed a ride were driven by Manuel in his 4 wheel drive…BTW, Manuel is 11 years old. Look who opted for the ride.
Audrey and I walked.
Jordan is the bridesman at the wedding
And we make our way to the ceremony.
I catch a glimpse of the bride and since the ceremony hasn’t started I won’t get busted.
After the ceremony – remember no pictures- we pick up our chairs and head to the reception.
Here is a panorama of the wedding site.
Now I really struggled with what I was going to wear to a ranch wedding where the attire was “country chic”. I need to thank my friend Kathy for loaning me her Frye boots, but in the end they were just too narrow and bulky to pack. So I ended up with a dress and the night before we left I bought some Converse tennis shoes to traverse the hill.
I had a cute pair of flats to change to – so I was set.
Olivia will be sporting some gold Converse when I get home.
My only regret was I wish I had a few more layers! It got cold!
The food was all made by locals neighbors and it was delicious.
Amanda had changed clothes by the time I tracked her down. Oh well.
Jim was discussing his upcoming retirement and what his next chapter would be. A gentleman at the table was suggesting growing something – herbs, flowers, anything as a great hobby. So he was giving a demonstration.
Turns out this guy is a professor in Labor Law at Cornell- and at 72 not retired, so I am not so sure he was very helpful!
And as the sun sets in West Virginia – we call it a night. After all we have another 30 minute flight back to DC in the morning.
